Last week on Friday 1/8/10 around 2:30 at George Lee’s house (near the corner of Portsmouth & Harvard): Three people came to George Lee’s house claiming to be census workers. They asked, “Is this George and Sylvia Lee’s house?” and other questions, such as what is their annual income. Sylvia’s medical aide let them in but, once they entered, they dispersed throughout the house making the aide suspicious. She asked for ID but they didn’t show her any. She told them they should leave. The man left quickly but the two women seemed reluctant to leave. The aide picked up her cell phone and threatened to call for help.

Then the two women left. They crossed the street and headed down Harvard (in the direction of Lakeshore…possibly having parked a car down the street?) The aide said they were speaking in another language and the two women also had their heads covered or wrapped. George reported the incident to the police when he returned home and heard about the incident. Fortunately, the neighbor across the street had seen the suspicious-looking threesome and taken down their license plate number. The police investigated it as an “unlawful entry” incident and were able to pick up a couple of youths and take them into custody.
